Southern West Virginia is scattered with small towns that once relied heavily on the coal industry. Now, many of these towns struggle with population loss and economic decline. Welcome to Mullens, West Virginia profiles the town of Mullens and the efforts of a small group of people to revitalize their area. In the process, they create a community center housed in a former middle school. Almost two decades later, this group is still going strong and proving that their town can be powered with a different source of energy - people power.
